Subject: Love Letters Reviews

Hi Wes:   I have waited a while before writing this.  Had to consult my business partner, Don Boyd.  I did that yesterday and he has agreed that we should offer this performance should the Class of '56 Committee be interested.

I have attached some reviews and  descriptions of the show (which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 1990).

A few pieces of information:

Don and I have performed together in community theatre for thirty-five years as actors and directors..

We have performed as a professional duo at local, state, national and international events for thirty years. We have served as entertainment for state events (sponsored by the state or other organizations) for every governor since Richard Kneip.

Under the name, Oahe Transit, we wrote and performed original comedy for ten years travelling to conventions, conferences and special events in a six or seven state area.. We were the entertainment primarily for annual conferences of business, education and government groups.   We custom wrote comedy to meet their requests.  We have done national conferences at Lake Tahoe, Denver, Cheyenne,  Minneapolis, Salt Lake and more places in between  than I want to remember.  We used to say we had entertained everyone from stock brokers to long haul truckers. It was a grand time....and hard work...but we loved it.

We owned and operated RiverBridge Theatre - a for-profit theatre company from 1999 through 2004.  We closed when he had some family responsibilities and I became ill.  With this company we mounted three contemporary productions yearly to audiences of approximately 700-900  per show. We directed and/or performed both original and others' works, including such shows as Parallel Lives, A Tuna Christmas, Sylvia, The Queen of Bingo, The Gin Game, An Ole and Lena Christmas, All in the Timing, Grace and Glorie,  and Love Letters.  We also did one pro bono show each year for local non profit organizations such as the local ministerial association, the mental health center, the high school arts boosters, etc.

We have performed Love Letters  numerous times including for the Murdo Class of 1954.  We are currently  negotiating it for production this year at the restored Lead Opera House.

Our fees run from $1000 -$3500 for this show, depending on  travel, time etc.   We would of course do this one at no expense to the Class of '56.

Other Considerations:

* I have a chronic health condition which is currently in remission ...there is no guarantee I will be well.   But at our age, health guarantees aren't very common anyway :-)    At the present time I have returned from lengthy summer trips to Wisconsin & Illinois, a 3200 mile drive to Anchorage, I work on my companion's ranch from time to time and am planning a trip to London in November..  I am directing a community theatre production that goes up on October 13th, am scheduled to do another in the spring. I serve on the boards of the South Dakota Arts Council and The Black Hills Playhouse as well as a couple local boards and foundations.  Phylliss Howey saw me last week and I believe can vouch for my health and energy.

*  We understand some may not want a 90 minute performance at the reunion .in spite of the fact that it is funny and extremely poignant for 'our age'.   We will not be upset if  our performance offer is not accepted.  We have bid jobs for thirty years-won some, lost some.

*  I was a no-show last year due to health....that could be a concern for some and I understand.

With that, I thank you for your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.
